Still in denial

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006
Steve Minor says that law school liberals are still in denial. By the way, Steve dropped by the office yesterday for a brief visit. I need to make a point to check in with him every so often; he makes me laugh every time. He's the Chris Rock of the Virginia blogosphere. And Steve, I [...]

The Chief

I like John Roberts more every day.

Unbelievable

Friday, March 10th, 2006
This is almost too much to believe: A father who drugged his children's tennis opponents, leading to a player's death, was sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted Thursday. Christophe Fauviau had confessed to the crime during his trial in Mont-de-Marsan in southwestern France. The former military pilot was accused of spiking the water bottles of [...]

This is so outrageous that I don't even know how to begin discussing it.

The high court may be deciding if Virginia’s law is constitutional at the same time. Attorney General Bob McDonnell [...]

“Blood-curdlingly outrageous”

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006
A longtime reader sends me this link, with this comment: "This story, if even a bit true, is simply blood-curdlingly outrageous." Well, it certainly doesn't look good, I agree. I urge caution, however; there are a ton of questions that aren't addressed in that post. Countertop Chronicles has more here.

How low can they go?

Very disturbing, but unfortunately, not surprising.

New Project Exile study

Sunday, February 12th, 2006
Ken links here to a study that purports to show that the gun crime rate in Richmond hadn't dropped any faster than the rates in other cities without Project Exile. I'm skeptical.

Math Lab

Friday, February 10th, 2006
It's hard to believe, based on the sample questions, that the US Justice Department believes this test is discriminatory. I got them all right, but then again, I help a fifth grader with her math homework every night.
