I mentioned a while back that I was going to review the best documentary film I’ve ever seen. The time is now.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of Netflix. For the first time, I have a huge library of films available to me, movies that I wouldn’t get to see otherwise [...]
Ten second movie review

The wife and I watched “Click” tonight, with Adam Sandler, Kate Beckinsale, and Christopher Walken.
Hey, this movie was actually pretty entertaining. Yeah, it was predictable at times, but it’s an Adam Sandler movie, so you just have to look over stuff like that. There were some typical Sandler belly-laughs, but it [...]

As you know, I loved the recent film, “Snakes on a Plane.” Well, be prepared for the sequel:
“Shrimp on a Treadmill.”

Saw a good movie this weekend: Little Miss Sunshine. Very entertaining film; I recommend it highly. Plus, I think my wife liked it even more than I did.
Four stars out of five.

Looks like Roger Ebert is back reviewing films after some serious health problems. Not sure when he’ll be back to the television show, but I hope it’s soon. I don’t watch the program, but I download the podcast every week.

A friend sent me the link to this incredible video, which was released by Popular Science magazine yesterday:
That’s SpaceShipTwo, Virgin Galactic’s sub-orbital tourist craft. Can’t wait to go for a ride on that.
As for the title of this post, you can guess which movie my two-year-old son has been watching lately.

We took the kids to see “Everyone’s Hero” this weekend. We thought it was very good; the kids didn’t move their eyes from the screen, especially my baseball-crazy son.
It wasn’t the best children’s movie ever, but it was fun all the way through. If you have a young son, however, go see it [...]
Ten second book review

I just read “A Long Way Down,” by Nick Hornby. Unsurprisingly, it’s laugh-out-loud funny.
In terms of fiction, is there a more entertaining writer than Hornby out there?
Four stars out of five.

“The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.” We just finished watching this one. Very, very good film. As always, Tommy Lee Jones is outstanding, and Barry Pepper is pretty good as well.
Three and a half stars out of five.

Saw a fantastic film recently: “The Illusionist“. Edward Norton stars as Eisenheim the illusionist, and he’s great in every movie he’s in. Paul Giamatti also does a fine job in his role as Chief Inspector Uhl.
Norton plays a magician in Vienna around the turn of the century, and I can’t say enough about [...]

Saw Woody Allen’s latest — “Scoop” — while I was in New York a couple of weeks ago. Sure, the film is set in London, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see a Woody Allen movie while in his favorite town.
I wasn’t disappointed, and neither was the crowd who packed [...]

Glenn Ford passes away
Sunday, September 3rd, 2006
I see that former Hollywood star Glenn Ford, the biggest box-office attraction of the late-fifties, passed away this week. He was 90.
Next Sunday, Turner Classic Movies will air Ford movies all day long, so I’ll probably have to fire the Tivo up and record a few. I’ve reviewed three Ford films here at [...]

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that “Snakes on a Plane” is the greatest movie I’ve ever seen.

We watched “Game 6” a couple of nights ago, starring Michael Keaton. Very, very good. Maybe you need to be a dedicated baseball fan like me to get it (even though there is very little baseball in the actual movie), but I thought it was a great film.
Four and a half stars out [...]

My wife and I saw “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” last night.
We saw the original “Pirates” movie, and enjoyed it. This sequel is more of the same, and that’s a good thing. Very entertaining, fun popcorn movie. Plus, it starred Keira Knightley, which is very, very nice.
My only (mild) gripe [...]

Ten Minute Movie Review, Part 3

Here’s Part 3 (click here for Part 1 and Part 2) of the movie reviews that I hadn’t had a chance to get to over the last couple of years. Let me know what you think of these films:

The Country Girl: Saw this one at some point last year.
