I 'm sure the first question is, Where the heck is Swansboro? That's not very hard to answer. This Google map link will give you a quick look at Swansboro. It's pretty obvious that the town is on the water....

We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about. Charles KingsleyToday is my dad's birthday. 63 I think? maybe? I know he is retiring the end of the month. I am so happy for him. Though retirement won't mean idle time for dad because he is a physical type always doing something. He loves his farms and cows so I imagine more time will go to that, his hunting cabin, and the grand babies!
I ran some Hardee's biscuits up for him and my sis and the gang and no one was there, of course. Any other day I would have found him. The pups needing some time out rode with me and I took them by the river for a swim and let them split their own sausage and egg biscuit. (I know, I know...it was only a special occasion...I hate giving them people food.)
From the butterfly conservatory in Niagara.
Photo album is up if you want to see our tourist shots. I did not include my butterflies because I may feature them on thru the week.
After 4 loads of laundry have been completed I am happy to be home. The only casualty while we were away was one terra cotta pot the Thugs must've knocked over and my purple petunia that has been so captivating all summer has gone to pot. The rainy weather and no pinching has all but destroyed it. I was shocked to see the new chickens had survived, but still no bonding to Larry the rooster.
Still very behind I will summarize vacation quickly:
1. Martin and I had our first "couples" massage. (You are basically in the same room). Probably my best massage yet....very relaxing. Toonces dozed off and did the "Wha...Wha...Where am I" thing to my delight.
2. George Thorogood rocked. I have seen alot of bands and guitarists but he is by far the smoothest thing I have ever seen on a guitar. He only used a pick on 2 songs. His hands went over the thing like magic. I hope one day my guitarist brother can see him perform. I was also surprised at what a crowd pleaser he was....very entertaining guy. I had a blast and thanks to the design of the place I was allowed to stand in my seat and dance where I was joined by some sweet girl from on up in Canada that had never been to the Falls and only came to see George.
3. We practically survived off Tu Tu Tango...I loved that place!
4. Food was very pricey in our tourist area. Very.
5. Friday I was so hot in the casino I just couldn't loose. I won in blackjack and the slots. I was hot but not greedy. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.
6. The Elvis slot I love paid me $200 right off the bat Thursday which went for my trinkets.
7. I could have spent hours in the butterfly conservatory had I been alone but all the people wore me down within 30 minutes.
8. I hate crowds, pushing, cutting line, rudeness. By Saturday the place was so overrun I was ready to come home. I have to feel like I have some space and by then I didn't.
9. We were caught in the upheaval of airport security and luckily I had packed everything in my checked suitcase. Often I carry my makeup as carry on and because of the camera I didn't. I would have had a hissy fit. Luckily Greensboro is small and I like their airport and they were very efficient. I was shocked that they came on board our plane and took our flight attendant's toothpaste, shampoos, etc. How awful. I am beginning to think we should publicly kill terrorists after a very speedy trial..... All the duty free stores lost their sales, even coffee stands because you couldn't take ANY liquid on the plane. People having to re-buy makeups, lotions, etc. How much did they cost us?
10. I was allowed to keep the one Lancome Juicy Juice lip gloss tube and the women in Charlotte were having a fit that I still had my lipstick.....Hey they told me it was okay. I couldn't help that their lips had to go naked.
11. I love my husband very, very much...I am so lucky to have someone that enjoys spending so much time with me and it was a really nice place to take a break.
12. We actually went out on an early run Saturday morning trying to stay fit....we were gone an hour..pretty good for us...though we did stop some and look around.
13. Everyone was so nice...the staff, the bartenders and waitresses, the dealers, the cab drivers...I was so very impressed with Canada. There are some things I wish the US would copy from you guys. And a very nice looking bunch too! There were quite a few young hotties with great hair!
Anyway I am home and still behind. Happy Day!
Happy Birthday Daddy!

Some think it's holding on that makes one strong; sometimes it's letting go. Sylvia Robinson
Well there we are. Toonces and Rollie fresh off the Maid of the Mist and in my new Hershey's sweatshirt. One of my trinkets from my casino winnings.
I am behind and have so much to do today I can't post much but will say "I love the Canadians!". We really had a great time. Probably the best impromptu trip ever.
I hope to have my tourist-y photo album up by morning....and I hope to be around to see all my friends by morning!
Here's a few Falls shots.....Have a great day!
and thanks for all the sweet well wishes!

| “Follow your inner moonlight; don't hide the madness.†|
Allen Ginsberg quotes
What a beautiful night it was last night. I love the hot nights of summer. I love lightening dancing through the skies and I love sitting out with a glass of wine staring at moons like the one last night. I like sultry things.
Izzy and I went to The Peach Festival event for Tuesday...Blue grass and an orchard tour. Izzy wanted to see some "grass" dancing (flatfooting or clogging) but no one was brave enough to break out last night. So I took her for ice cream. No spending the night though...she wanted mama. I had to pick her up early this morning to get our nails and toes done....I for vacation and she....HER FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN. I am nervous for her. And I hope they are ready for Miss B-Belle. Have mercy! Can we say DIVA?
I can't believe I will miss hearing about her first day!
Miscellaneous ramble:
I will not be taking the "notebook" to the falls...I want some R&R Internet free if I can stand it.
I have to get up at 4:00am so I am typing so fast I am dizzy trying to get to bed.
I have already lost the original set of car keys for the new Explorer Sport Trek. I'm sure the Thugs have eaten them by now.
The "Lib" sisters are doing great. Still no big romance but at least they are still alive. Larry is just a sap with women. He embarrassed me....well Toonces. He doesn't represent me.
Most importantly today. (Thurs) .."Happy Birthday Lisa!!!" I hope your shrine is piled over the top of your cube wall! I hope the birthday fairies sprinkle so much dust on you that you are giddy all day and on through the weekend! Enjoy!
Today when Izzy and I had our nails done somehow mine turned out to be "glow in the dark". I had no idea. But I am betting I can shock the **** out of Toonces tomorrow night!!!!
Colleen I have some new tunes for you to try. Click here for Jonah Smith, try Stay Awhile. It is not new, new but I just found it and loved it!
Okay, so that's it. I won't post for quite a while. I will do my best to stay caught up with you my friends!
I am off to the Falls!
(my midnight flower...just waiting on the moon)
Can you tell I have sat here and gotten myself all hopped up instead of sleepy?!!! That love of Flying! |

A few weeks ago, we took a quick weekend trip to Ada and Lima, Ohio. On the way up, on highway 117, we drove by this place.

I thought it was a cool old house and had to have a photo of it. Other than that, though, I really did not know anything about it.
I just ran across the photo again and thought I would share it. The house was built around 1892. Here is some more information about the old place.
