Anyone catch Lehrer tonight?
Thursday, November 2nd, 2006
Did anyone catch AG Bob McDonnell and Gov. Tim Kaine on the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer tonight? We had a local committee meeting tonight, so I missed it (and I went straight there from the office, so I didn’t get a chance to get home and set the Tivo).
McDonnell and Kaine were scheduled to [...]

“The Real Storyâ€
Thursday, November 2nd, 2006
Great piece by Byron York over at NRO about the Allen-Webb race, with the subtitle: “Democratic activists, Internet pranksters, rumor-mongers, and the Washington Post come together to hit the Republican candidate.” It’s about that nut who made a spectacle of himself at the Allen event yesterday. Be sure to read it.
I didn’t expect this endorsement
Thursday, November 2nd, 2006
The whole endorsement game is generally pretty lame, but I was very surprised that Sen. George Allen earned the endorsement of the Staunton News Leader:
As we have said in the past, an endorsement is not a statement of unconditional love — merely our appraisal of who we believe to be the best person for a [...]
Did Jim Webb commit plagiarism?
Thursday, November 2nd, 2006
Ramesh Ponnuru examines the evidence over at NRO:
Larry Sabato, the University of Virginia professor of politics, has seen 17 passages from Bergamini that resemble passages from Webb. “There are some passages that were lifted, that’s just obvious,†he says, while noting that perhaps Webb has some explanation for the similarity that hasn’t occurred to him. [...]
Strong support for Kellam…not
Wednesday, November 1st, 2006
Evidently, Mark Warner appeared at a fundraiser for the Dem candidate, Phil Kellam, in the 2nd Congressional district…and basically ignored Kellam all evening. Some other folks put in a questionable appearance, though.
A call to arms

Jim Rittinger offers a little perspective and a call to arms.

It’s a good one:
That nutjob Webb supporter
Tuesday, October 31st, 2006
I suppose you’ve heard about the lefty nutjob who tried to crash one of Sen. Allen’s events. Here’s a first-hand account, and here’s background on this guy’s history of “guerrilla tactics” and disgraceful conduct. Riley notes that the stalker was inspired by Michael Moore and asks this question: “Just why is it [...]
Allen credo is put to the test
Tuesday, October 31st, 2006
Nothing is impossible, says Allen. We’ll see:
Mr. Allen says his father, the late famed Redskins coach George H. Allen, taught him the four “F’s” — faith, freedom, family and football.
Among those football lessons: “Get knocked down, get back up,” and a player’s ability to “catch, kick, punt or long snap” [...]
Webb and Buchanan

Jim Webb = Pat Buchanan? So says Norm.
Podcast endorsements

The Bearing Drift crew (and then some) have made their endorsements in some of this year’s races…in podcast form. Good stuff, as always.
McDonnell on Allen
Monday, October 30th, 2006
You know that the Attorney General did a live-blog in support of Sen. George Allen’s candidacy, and you may have seen this op-ed written by Bob McDonnell about Allen; here’s a statement he released on the topic:
“A critical question in this election is what record makes for a better Senator? George Allen has an unparalleled [...]
On the childishness of the Webb campaign

Conduct unbecoming a Senator, indeed.
New Virginia blog
Monday, October 30th, 2006
People’s Republic of Charlottesville Insurgency. Billed as “thoughts on politics, sports, popular culture, and life in Virginia’s most Liberal city.”
I’ve lived there, and I’ll follow the blog…gotta admit, I loved living in C’ville.
Such style…

Style Weekly has interviews with the two US Senate candidates. It’s worth a read.

Steve has his list of the top ten non-policy reasons he’ll be supporting Sen. George Allen in this election. Number 9 is my favorite.
What will Gerald Gray say about this list?
Allen’s real record
Friday, October 27th, 2006
Wonder why the WaPo can’t be bothered to cover this story? Stewart Verdery at NRO:
As part of the racial controversy that has swirled around Senator George Allen over the past several months, the citizens of Virginia have been subjected to a barrage of ancient allegations dating as far back as the Nixon administration. However, [...]
